9-21-23 THOUGHTS
There are a couple of jewels in our short reading this morning. First, the LIE OF SATAN is presented with interesting words. Transgression speaks, and flatters the person “in his own eyes”! The man cannot see his own sin. Thus, no fear of God, no wisdom! Our tendency to flatter ourselves, is the beginning of all sorts of problems. The second jewel is in verse 9 “For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light.” God is the never-ending source of all blessing! Loving kindness is the motivation for the distribution. “8 They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house; And You give them to drink of the river of Your delights.” If we can but see... Aren’t we blessed? Put on a smile, go be light to this world!
Ps 36:1-10 Transgression speaks to the ungodly within his heart; There is no fear of God before his eyes. 2 For it flatters him in his own eyes Concerning the discovery of his iniquity and the hatred of it. 3 The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit; He has ceased to be wise and to do good. 4 He plans wickedness upon his bed; He sets himself on a path that is not good; He does not despise evil. 5 Your lovingkindness, O LORD, extends to the heavens, Your faithfulness reaches to the skies. 6 Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; Your judgments are like a great deep. O LORD, You preserve man and beast. 7 How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. 8 They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house; And You give them to drink of the river of Your delights. 9 For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light. 10 O continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You, And Your righteousness to the upright in heart.
Php 1:6 [For I am] confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
My Prayer:
Lord, keep us from the delusive flattering of ourselves. Help us to examine self honestly and powerfully. May we ever be converted and changed by Your word. Help us to be mature disciples. Thank You for being the endless source of all blessings. We know Truth because you are Truth. We know Love, because You are Love. May we gain the fountain of life, and see light in Your light. O Lord, please finish the work You have begun in us.
In the name of Jesus, Amen.
